Background: Founded in 1933, the IRC is a global leader in relief, rehabilitation, and post-conflict development services. With operations in over 25 countries, including Uganda since 1998, the IRC addresses immediate needs in emergencies and supports post-conflict reconstruction.

Scope of Work: Enrolled Nurses will deliver high-quality clinical services at IRC facilities, adhering to Uganda Ministry of Health guidelines. Responsibilities include providing health education, administering treatments, monitoring patient vitals, facilitating referrals, and participating in community engagement activities.


  • Provide health education to clients to prevent diseases and infections.
  • Administer prescribed treatments and monitor patient vitals.
  • Facilitate client referrals and transfers.
  • Dispense medications to clients as needed.
  • Conduct community awareness campaigns on diseases such as HIV and TB.
  • Participate in community outreach events and dialogues.
  • Assist in capacity building for community health workers.
  • Contribute to program work plans and reporting.


  • Provide regular feedback to clinicians on patient status.
  • Assist in donor report preparation.
  • Contribute to program work plan development and implementation.

  • Direct Supervisor: Facility In-Charge
  • Technical Support: Medical Officer, Health Facility In-Charge
  • Other Departments: Logistics, Finance, Administration

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certificate in Nursing.
  • Registered with relevant professional body and valid practicing license.


  • Minimum one year experience in Primary Health Care settings.
  • Experience in planning, organizing, and coordinating health activities.
  • Information management experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Counselling, communication, and clinical skills.
  • Interpersonal and team-building skills.

Language Skills:

  • Proficiency in English.
